Because of questionable practices, John eventually grew tired of the mistreatment of customers. The final straw was 2008, during the recession, when the dealership’s checks bounced. John was distraught, but it forced him to start independently, performing auto and diesel truck repairs. Eventually, his burgeoning “side hustle” grew into a formal business, prompting him to find a repair shop space.
